The MR2 Shoot

This shoot was pretty special for me, as it didn’t have the outcome that I was necessarily expecting.

Typically, people book my service when they intend to sell their cars. They may still have some attachment to it, but have ultimately decided that it’s time to let it go.

In this particular case, the only owner of this car simply didn’t have time to enjoy it any more. He bought it new from the dealership in the 1991, but it recently spent most of its life in storage in Connecticut.

Before the shoot, the owner was able to spend some quality time getting re-acquainted with the mid engined sports car, getting it completely detailed to bring out the best in it for its quick moment in the spotlight.

Over the course of the shoot, the owner told me stories about how he acquired the car, what it meant to him, how he enjoyed driving it to the studio, and so on. The shoot took about 2-3 hours, which gave him plenty of time to admire the gloss red paint shine in the light.

I’m not quite sure when it may have happened, but I realized I never saw the car get posted on Bring a Trailer. Today I found out that the owner decided that this Mr2 still had something to give, and that he was not ready to let go of the car he’s owned for over 30 years. He ultimately chose that the MR2 would stay in his procession just a little longer…

If what I do had even the smallest effect on that decision, It’s a job well done.
